Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, May 21. A man named Hilaire has been remanded for sentence for bigamy, committed in Auckland in March, 1898. At the outset the Judge resei-ved the question of jurisdiction for the Full Court. Objection was raised that the seiond marriage took place outside New South Wales. The point was also noted that there was no evidence that New Zealand is a British possession, or that bigamy is a crime according to the New Zealand Code. ' In the application for a writ of attachment against Lawson (formerly of New Zealand), a bankrupt, the rule absolute granted was ordered to lie in the office for ten days, bankrupt explaining that he had no intention to flout the order of the Court to file accounts, which were now in course of preparation. He had endeavored to release his estate, but the negotiations had failed HOBART, May 22. (Received May 22, at 10.35 a.m.) Parliament was formally opened by commission and adjourned till the 28th.
