TRUANCY CASES.
The following were brought before Air J. M'Ennis, S.M., at Naseby on Tuesday by the truant officer for the irregular attendance of their children at school:— Henry Ravenswood, four . informations, fined 2s in each case; defendant's child is 12 years 8 months, and had only passed Standard 11. Michael Lennane, eight informations, fined 2s in each case; defendant's child is 13 years 8 months, passed Standard 111., is a confirmed truant. Peter Rumble, five informations, fined 2s in each case. John Beattie, three informations, fined 2s in each case; the defendant's child is 12 years, and had passed no standard. John Burns, three informations, fined 2s in each case. John Hnmpries, three informations, fined 2s in each case; defendant's child is 12 years 5 months, and had passed no standards. The magistrate explained, during the hearing of the cases, that as It was the first time the defendants had been before the Court for this offence, he would be very lenient with them; but were there any repetition of the offence he would certainly carry out the law in a most vigorous manner.
