THE PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH.

A vocal and instrumental concert in aid of the building fund of the above church was held last evening in the neat and substantial new church at the corner of Cargill and Forbury roads. The audience was large, and the concert entertainment ranks as the best of any previous effort put forth by the congregation. The programme totalled eighteen items, and the encore numbers added considerably to the list. Instrumental items were contributed by Miss Wright (pianoforte), Mr F. Clark (organ), Messrs Paul and Brown (clarionet), and an instrumental selection by Messrs G. and T. Adam. Mr B. Metson contributed two selections (humorous and heroic), and the vocalists were Mrs Wilan, Misses N. Beavers, M. Griffiths, and Wright, and Messrs J. S. Gilbert, A. Black, Adam, and W. Stewart. Graphophone selections were undertaken by Mr A. G. Wheeler, and Miss Mina Caldow acted as accompanist. The whole of the performers put their best efforts into their respective items, and the audience was a most appreciative one, the entertainment lasting considerably beyond 10 p.m. The Rev. R. J. Liddell, who presided, thanked the performers for their contributions and the audience for their attendance and applause. From a financial point of view the concert was quite as successful as it was musically, and a substantial* sum has been added to the building fund.
