THE SIXTH CONTINGENT.

WELLINGTON, January 19. Lieutenant-colonel Banks, who is to command the Sixth Contingent, arrived in camp this morning. Additional appointments have been made as follow; Lieutenant Markham, of the Federal Contingent, to be captain of the Auckland company ; Captain R. C. Smith (of Rangiona), Lieutenant A. Rose (Wellington), Lieutenant R. M. Wilkinson, and Lieutenant M. Jones to hold commissions, but in which company is not yet decided. It is understood that Lieu-tenant-colonel Watt, of Wanganui, is to receive command of a company. A camp report is current t&at Captain Fulton, who is now on sick leave, and who was appointed to the command of a company, has been prohibited by his medical adviser from going to South Africa.
