CYCLING.

LEAGUE OF WHEELMEN'S CARNIVAL.

For the League of Wheelmen's Carnival at Sydney on Saturday the weather was boisterous, and the attendance fair. The New Zealanders, Forbes and Hunt, showed brilliant form, and won the two chief events as follows :

Winter Stakes.—Forbes 1, Payne 2, Martin 3. A splendid finish; won by a couple of feet. Meg son and Green were amongst the starters. Time, lmin 21 l-ssec.

Five-mile International Scratch Race.— Hunt 1, M'lnnes 2, Green 3. Won by several lengths. Martin, Forbes, and Megson were amongst the starters. Time, 12min 15 2-ssec.

The first meeting of the Committee of the Dunedin Cycling Club for this season was held on Saturday evening, Dr Roberts presiding. The principal business was in connection with the new racing track, and a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Sullivan, Boot, Crow, Speight, and J. M'Millan, was appointed to make the necessary arrangements for getting the art union under way, and to report at next meeting. The proposed amalgamation of the New Zealand Cyclists' Alliance and League of Wheelmen was discussed. Twenty-four new members were elected.
