The Waihora steamed down from Dunedin yesterday evening and was berthed at the Bo wen pier for her periodical overhaul. Many persons consider that the wreckage found at the Auckland Islands does not correspond with that of a vessel of the Stoneleigh's build, and that it is more likely to belong to the Shaw, SaviH and Albion Company's freezing ship Timaru, which left Melbourne for London on 4th June with wool and meat and has not yet been reported as arriving. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company s steamer Matatua may put in an appearance at any moment, she now being tilty-two days out from London. . The Hamburg-American Steamship Company have ordered from Messrs Harland and Wolff, of Belfast, a twin-screw steamer of no less than 20,000 tons rcgistt r. The vessel will be the largest in the world. Intended, in the first place, for freight traffic, this monster will be provided with elegant cabins for 200 first class passengers and steerage aecommodation for 1,500. The reason that the order is going abroad is that the English firm asked a much lower price than tho two largest German yards, and will have the ship ready in ten months, whilst the German builders declared they could not build it in less than nineteen months.
