QUEEN'S JUBILEE CONVALESCENT FUNDS.

The annual meeting of the Committee connected with the above funds anil of the subscribers was held yesterday in the rooms of the Y.W.C.A., under the presidency of Mrs A. W. Morris (in the absence of Mrs Webster). The annual report and the treasurer's statement, which were read by the hon. secretary (Mrs W. Downic Stewart), were, on the motion of the Actino-Pkesident, adopted. The Committee reported that during the year ended October 27 51 patients had been sent to the country or seaside for rest or change of air. Of these, 23 were married women (mostly widows), 24- unmarried women and young girls, and 7 child-en. During 1893 there were 35 cases dealt with, making an increase of 19 for the year. Most of these had gone to Waitati, where, under Mrs Drysdalc's care and attention, they have speedily regained health and strength, and have returned to their various duties and engagements with fresh energy and hope. Some were tent to Mrs Alexander Clarke's, at Hooper Inlet—another very good, comfortable home. One had her expenses paid to Waikari, and another was sent to Christchurch. A large number of thoso sent away this year have been hospital patients, but during the past two months the Committee of the Dempsey £!lub have given material assistance. The balancetdicet shows that there was not a large sum in the current account, and the Committee will be glad to receive help from any persons who may think this work deserving of support. As the fine weather is now coming on there will doubtless be numerous applicants anxious to avail themselves of this fund by getting a few weeks in the country. Generally during the winter the Committee have very few cases to deal with, but this year has been an exception, as. patients have been going away all the year. The Committee make special acknowledgment of tho following, donations: Rugby Union Charity Tournament, £ls; Knox Church oratorio performance, £ll 6s; Masonic lodge entertainment, £5 5s 9d; Mr Walter Bentley's entertainment, £9 16s; Mr A. W. Morris, £3 13s. Ihe mayor is also thanlfcd for giving the use of a room of the Town Hall for committee meetings.

The following ladies were elected the executive for the ensuing year : —President, Mrs Webster; treasurer, Mrs J. P. Maitland; hon. secretary, Mrs W. Downie Stewart; Committee—Mrs A. W. Morris, Mrs Colquhoun, M?s Thomas Fergus, Mrs E. H. Carew, Mrs Martin, Mrs J. Allen. Mrs Hocken, Mrs Theomin, Mrs Teevan, Mrs A. H. Driver, Mrs Johnston Brown, and Mrs Sayle.
