They went to the beach and fired shotguns and " cooed " as a warning to the steamer. Tho pcop'e on board supposed it to be the Timaru waterman, lifted up the anchor, and moved in towards the noises, till the beaoh was seen ] ust in time to turn the steamer round and make off.
