LAND BOARD

To-day's sitting waa attended by Messrs J. P. Maitland (Chief Commissioner), J. W. Thomson, M.H.R., H. Clark, J. Duncan, and W. Dallas. The Clerk of the Tuapcka County Council, in reply to the Board's letter re. J. M'Donald's application to lea9e 5,000 acres of the commonage, stated that the area had already been dealt with for a period of twelve months.—The application was therefore declined.

The District Surveyor reported that section 10, block 15, Maniototo, at present vacant, should be released for paste rU purposes for five or seven years, Gcvornor-in-Council recommended to lease for p.wtoral purposes for five years at an upset of la per acre. Messrß Kenyon and Hogking, on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, asked that possession of run 24, Wakatipu, should not be given to Mr John Stionach until valuation for improvements 'vas paid.—Adjourned for a week.

The Secretary of the School Commismissionera forwarded an application received from Mr V. Pyke, on behalf of P. Morrisey, for leave to occupy the school reserve sections 21 and 24, block 2, Tiger Hill,—Declined, the section being already occupied. The following applications were approved : —To complete purchase of deferred-payment land: Peter Gifford, section 26, block 2, Highlay ; Thomas Hal!, section 2, block 6, Gimmerburn. To capitalise : Thomas Flannery, section 13, block 10, Poolburn; same, section 8, block 11, Poolburn. The Chief Surveyor forwarded a plan of subdivisions of section 11, block 8, Cookstown, comprising the following sections : 32, la 2r; 33, 2jl 2r; 34, 2\ 3r; 35,2 a; 36, la 3r; 37, 7a; 88. 7a 2r; 39, 9i; 40, 10a; 41, 12a; 42, 8a 3r.— Recommended as suitable sites for village settlement; price of land, L2 per acre. The clerks of the Taieri, Maniototo, Tuapeka, Bruce, and Waikouaiti county councils forwarded supplementary lists of deferred-payment, perpetual-lease, and small grazing-run moneys collected between November 2 and January 31, and indicated the roads on which the moneys are to be expended. —Received. Gideon J. Scott requeated that a small reserve be made for landing on the Taupuku River, Woodland.— Noted.
