DRUIDISM.

The Otago Lodge of Druids held a special summoned meeting last night at the Baldwin Hotel. There was a largo attendance of members, and official visitors from the All Nations Lodge (Port Chalmers) and the Ivanhoe Lodge (Dunedin) were present. P.D.P. Bto. A. Morrison was present by special invitation to make presentations—one to P.D.P. Bro. Baird, the other to P.D.P. Bro. Moss. Bro. Baird has just completed his term as D.P. of No. 19 district, and was presented by the various ledges in the district with a P.D P. collar and case, bearing a silver plate, inscribed Presented toW. Baird, P.D.P., by the lodges of No. 19 district, August, 1887. The presentation was made by the D.P., who complimented Bro. Baird on the successful completion of bis term. Ho rcfe.red to the able and obliging manner in which Bro Baird has fulfilled his arduous and varied duties, and hoped to see him continue his career of usefulness among Druids in Dunedin. Bro. Baird, in reply, thanked the D.P. and the lodges by their representatives for the kindness, and trusted that he would ever deserve the same high opinion and respect After the members had sang “ For he's a jolly good fellow," the District President rose and Informed the meeting that the duty be was about'to perform was one of the most pleasing and gratifying that he had performed during his six years’connection with the Order. He was about to present Bro. Moss with a token of esteem from the members of the Otago Lodge. Ho referred in Warm terms to Bro, Moss’s long connection with the Order, and to the very able and energetic manner in which bo had worked on behalf of Oruidism, and said that, if he specially leaned towards the Otago Lodge, he ought to feel proud of the unique honor of receiving so handsome a present as that before them from a single lodge. Over 100 members hod subscribed towards the gift, and this was ail the more gratifying as showing the unanimity with which Bro. Moss was esteemed. He then made the presentation, which took the shape of a very massive and handsome marble-aod-bronse fourteenday oiook with chimes, with a silver plate inscribed : “ Presented to Bro. M. Moss, P.D.P., by the officers and members of the Otago Lodge Druids, No. 107. August 3rd, 1887.” Bro. Moss thanked the members for their kindness and good opinion of him, and assured them that be would always in the future, as in the past, labor for the good of Druidiem in general and the Otago Lodge in particular. Votes of thanks were minuted to the visitors, and a special vote to the D.P. for bis attendance to make these presentations. After these votes bad been reponded to, Bro. 0. Mouat A.D., closed the lodge. Bro. Moss has been connected with the Order in Melbourne and Dunedin for the past twenty-seven Years. Ho was initiated in Melbourne in 1861, aha on leaving there received a handsome framed certificate of bis membership of the Grand Lodge of Australia, In 1880 Bro. Moss was to the fore in organising the Otago Lodge; he was their first A.D., and since then has served two further terms in the same chair. In the year 1881 ho was elected first district president of No. 19 District, and hold this high office for nearly two years. Daring his term as D.P. Bro Moss was instrumental in starting seven lodgos-four in Dunedin and three in Invercargill. On retiring, the Grand Lodge of Australia presented him with a very handsome collar and case. Besides the present, many other honors have been showered on Bro Moss by the Otago Lodge-among them, two Past Arch framed diplomas and a framed collection of the photographs of the past officers, inscribed; “ Presented to Bro. M. Moss by the past and present officers ot the Otago Lodge, 1885.”
