THE LAND BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Land Board was held to-day, and was attended by Messrs Maitland (Chief Commissioner), Duncan, Clark, and Logan. The Government having accepted the surrender of Run 0, \Vakatipu, the Board fixed the new term of lease at fourteen years, at a rental of LIS per annum.

The Tuapeka County Council recommended that a road should be made through the south corner of Flection 11, block 12, Benger ; or that a certain portion should be sold to Mr Lundy, the proprietor of the land adjoining.—lt was agreed to record the road when the county forwarded a survey. It was resolved to recommend the Government to set apart sections 8 and 0, block 13, Blac.kstoiie, for perpetual leasing. M r Simpson, for A. Carnie, applied to be allowed to graze stock over section 21, block 2, and section 14, block 7, Mount Hyffe.— Declined, as the land is within a hundred. J. L. Farquhar applied to be allowed to take up a section in block 3, Blackstonc, under agricultural lease or purchase,— Section withdrawn from leasing until a road is constructed; It was resolved to advertise sections 4 and 5j block 10, Blackstone, as open for application.

Mr Simpson, for the licensee of Run 22Sa, intimated that P, Tully had taken possession of 200 acres of the run, and asked that steps should he taken to eject him,—The Hoard were of opinion that the licensee should take action to protect himself. A petition from miners at Waikaia and Wcndon asking that perpetual-lease sections 74, 75, and 76, block 1, Wcndon, should be opened for mining purposes was referred to the School Commissioners.

The Hoard agreed to consider the rescinding of the forfeiture of D. Scott’s lease of section 12, block 5, Kurow, if the licensee pays his rent in four months.—The forfeiture of W. M. Cooper’s license was rescinded, he having paid up his interest. The application of J. Peters to exchange his deferred-payment license of section 14, block 4, Lauder, for a perpetual lease was granted. H. B. Flctt was allowed to complete the purchase of section 26, block 6, Table Hill. The New Zealand and Australian Land Company applied to purchase section 10, block 4, Kurow.—Approved. Messrs J. Reid and Sons applied for a lease of live .acres in block 6, Waikaia, for coal-mining purposes. Referred to the Ranger. Mr Callan, for N. Moloney, applied under section 220 of the Land Act, 1885, for a license to occupy sections 8, 9, and 16, block 16, Mid-Wakatip, for seven years.—License to issue for seven years at Lo per annum. The following surrenders of perpetual leases were accepted:—J. C. Harrington, sections 11, 12, and 18, block 4,Lauder; N. Bruce, sections 81 and 82, Waitahuna,
