The Planter, from Hobart, waa reported aa passing Cape Saunders at 5 p.m. yesterday, and the Plucky proceeded outside, taking her in tow, bringing her up as far as Deborah Bay, where she anchored until this morning, when she passed up to town. She left Hobart on the Bth inst. with a southerly breeze which held until the 10th, when it veered to the N.E., and continued until tho 12th, when a strong westerly breeze set in; made Stewart Island on the 16th, and breasted the Nuggtts next day; thence she had calms and thick weather until yesterday morning, when a S.E. breeze sprang up, which brought her up to Cape Saundc-s. ■ The brig Phillis and schooner Enterprise came down from Dunedin yesterday evening, and anchored off Carey Bay. The Oreti, with fifty-two head cattle, eighty pifcs, and one horse, arrived at 11.30 p.m yesterday from Wanganui, which port she left at 1 a.m. on the 18th; experienced fresh N.N.W. breeze, with fine weather, through the Straits ; passed Akaroa at 4 30 a.m. 19th, arriving as above. The whole of the stock arrived in splendid condition. On and after the 6th inst. ships' goods of classes A, B, C, and D will be charged as follows by weight or measurement, according to the ship's bill of lading, or at the option of the Railway Department:— Lyttelton and Dunedin, S4s per ton ; Port Chalmers and Christchurch, 345; Port Chalmers and Timaiu, 21s; Port Chalmers and Oamaru, 15s; Port Chalmers and Invercargill, 225. THE DIRECT STEAM SERVICE. The Now Zealand Shipping Company are advised by cable that the lonio reached Rio do Janeiro on the 15th and sailed on the 17th. Her passage from Lyttelton is the fastest on record, being only twentyone clays. Her frozen meat is reported a3 in prime condition. ._ Weather Telegram. Th<3 Harbor Board received the following telegram this afternoon from the Meteorological Department at Wellington :—" Watch barometer, bad weather approaching between north-west and west and south.
