GIFTS FOR ALL

THE BLIND ENTERTAINED

Christmas gifts were presented to all members by Mr. Colin Campbell, who, as Father Christmas, was "piped in" by Mr. Angus Graham at the recent social evening of the Wellington Social Club for the Blind. The guest of honour, Mrs. Walter Nash, and a large number ,of other visitors, were welcomed by the president, Mrs. Knox Grilmer.

The programme opened with items by the Petone Ladies' Choir, under the direction of Mrs. Millwood, and songs by Mrs. Fisher, humorous sketches by Mrs. B. Anderson, games, competitions, and dancing followed. The accompanist was Mrs. Ross.

Speeches were made by Mr. W. R. Newall and Mr. W. Hayes, and on behalf of members Mr. D. Ridley thanked all those who had contributed towards the evening's success. Thanks were extended to Mrs. Vrede and her helpers for the dinner and * supper arrangements, Miss A. Wharton for organising the games and competitions, Mrs. Weeds for attending to the decorations, the Compost Club for supplying the flowers, and various departmental stores for the Christmas gifts.
