TWO MONTHS FOR THEFT

The accused was a passenger on a train from Otaki to Levin on September 8, and when leaving the train at Levin, he took an overcoat belonging to another passenger who had stepped out on to tlie platform to speak to a friend, said Detective-Sergeant E. H. Compton in the Magistrate's Court today, when Joseph Ropfha, labourer, appeared on. a charge of theft of .the coat. When Rchipa was located in Wellington he was wearing the coat. Mr. Compton added that the accused had two previous convictions for dishonesty. Ropiha pleaded guilty and Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., sentenced him to two months' imprisonment.
