DANGER TO UNIONISM

Bee. 1 p.m. LONDON, October 28. Trade unions- were necessary, even in a Socialist State,,but,it,the dockers' strike went on much longer it would 'scrap the union' machine and make it impossible even to begin to build the Socialist State, said Miss Ellen Wilkinson, Minister of Education, in a speech today. The dock employers, she said, stood to lose little from the strike, because they were acting as agents for the Government. The v/hole weight of suffering would fall on ordinary men and women, and particularly children, facing a most difficult winter.
