ADDRESS BY THE POPE

ROME, August 30. The Pope, addressing the American Congressional Mission, declared that it was no longer the hour of armed battle but of diplomatic battles between statesmen.

"Now is the time to fight against hate, which opposes the brotherhood of man, against distrust of a world organisation which would assure the rights of weaker nations, and against a materialistic mentality which excludes God from the mind,'' he said. "These principles are a call to the yictorious nations not to abuse their victory-"
