V DAY TRANSPORT
Sir, —In answer to "Hataitai-ite's" letter in last night's "Post," I would like to ask the writer whether he has given a thought to the fact that work-; ing on the trams are a considerable number of men who risked their lives overseas to keep him in a good job, and doesn't he think they should have the chance to join in the V Day celebrations? Also that the other tramway men and women have been working extremely long hours to take him to and from that job, and probably to the pictures after he has had his tea? I will have to v/alk much further than "Hataitai-ite," but I am certainly not going to kick about it. I am only too pleased that the men have decided to take the day off to join in the celebrations. They have earned it. To the tramway men and women who have carried myself and my family to and from work during the difficult war years, we would like to say, "Thank you" for your cheerfulness, your courtesy, and your unfailing sense of humour under very trying conditions, and may you enjoy your V Day celebrations. —I am, etc., "RONGOTAI-ITE." "Tramwayman" writes on similar lines.
