BUFFET LUNCHEON
RECORD NUMBER PRESENT
The Victoria League's final luncheon for the year, which was- held yesterday, attracted a record crowd, there being 160 members and a number of other guests present. The rooms were delightfully decorated with large bowls of flowers and the buffet tables were laden, with excellent home-made fare. Mrs. David Coutts, J.P., was the luncheon hostess and special guests included Mrs. Macfarlane, Auckland branch president, Mrs. Christie (Blenheim), Miss Myers (Marton), Mrs. Noel Starley (the Canadian bride- of a New Zealand serviceman), Mrs. Bradley (New York), Mrs. Charles McDonald (who has been the pianoforte accompanist on many occasions of. the league gatherings), and women members of the Press. . Mrs. Doctor, the president, expressed appreciation of all the work done during the year by the catering centre, which comprises Mesdames. W. H. Gledhill (convener), Austin Briggs, R. B. Gibbons, W. A. Fraser, M. R. Bunny, and R. Caughley. Mrs. Gledhill replied and also thanked her helpers.
