A NEW BOWLING CLUB
The formation of a new bowling club was decided upon at a well-at-tended public meeting in the Vogelmorn Hall, Mornington. The green will be laid down on a site adjoining the Vogelmorn Public Hall, or such other site as may be determined upon. Officers were elected as" follows:— President, Mr. C. H. Backhouse; vicepresident. Mr. A. G. Cathie; secre-tary-treasurer, Mr. Trevor Pricemanagement committee, Messrs. F. Pett, R. Holland. C. E. Fuller, W A. Jamieson, A. J. Hedgman, W. S. Clark. W. Trail, and J. MacKinnon. The president thanked the residents of Brooklyn, Mornington, and Vogelmorn for their interest in tlie venture, and welcomed the following visitors:—Messrs. B. A. Guise (president, Wellington Bowling Centre), C. R. Ingram (secretary, Wellington Bowling Centre), Andrew Fletcher (Wellington Bowling Centre), and M. J. Casey (past-president New Zealand Bowling Association). Apologies were received from the Mayor (Mr. Appleton) and Councillor Macalister. Councillor Toop, who represented the reserves stated that he would do ..everything reasonably possible to further the interests of the club, and -the development of the district. He expressed the council's appreciation of the progressive efforts of the residents of the district. •■•■•■•
Mr. Andrew Cathie reported on the progress made to date in establishing the club, and stated that applications amounting to several hundred pounds had already been received for debentures.
Mention was made of the encouragement received from the reserved committee of the "City Council and from City Council, officers. -
