VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE FORMED
A public meeting of residents -of Tawa Flat and Linden was recently held to discuss the question of forming a local volunteer fire brigade. The meeting; which was well attended, was called by a special committee set up by the Tawa Flat and Linden' Progressive Associations, and was addressed by Mr. A. Melville, the convener of the committee. It was decided that a' brigade was very necessary and applications for membership were called. Approximately thirty applications for active membership were received from those present as well as a number of applications for honorary membership. The meeting also gave its approval to the committee acting as a selection committee in the event of the number of applications exceeding the number required for the brigade. When the selection has been made the committee will dissolve and the brigade wil Itake over complete control of its own affairs
