xJ^S?' 1* was announced last month' that the children of the Hjra School had won a prize of £5 in an art union, the Nelson W.C.T.U. was among the organisations which protested to the Education Board against the children purchasing a ticket with the approval of. the master, states "The Post's" correspondent. The W.C.T.U. received a reply from the board which gave the teacher's explanation that; the ticket was bought in response io -a Government circular requesting, support for the art union, the returns from which were to go to patriotic- purposes: The Nelson District' Convention of the W.C.T.U. decided to reply- to the board that the explanation .given was "quite inadequate," and alsot to forward a protest to the Minister of Education.
