AMATEUR ATHLETICS

The Kiwi Amateur Athletic Club recommenced its activities this week at the Basin Reserve with a further scries of handicap events. A party of Wrens attended to receive coaching by the club coach, Jack Gilmore, for the forthcoming Services championships. Results were:—Hop, step, and jump handicap (Everiss Shield) : T. Davis (4ft), 40ft filu, 1; F. Surgenor (sft), 40ft 41n, 'l\ B. Dowrick (scr), 39ft 9in, 3. 440 yds (Everiss Shield) :T. Davis (15yds), 1; K. Boyd (syds), 2; D. McGaughran (10yds), 3. Time, 53 4-ssec. 120 yds (no points): F. Surgeuor (oyds), 1; G. W. I Jackman (12yds), 2; F. Burns (12yds), 3. Time, 13sec. Next week's events will be the high jump handicap (Everiss Shield), 100 yds handicap junior (president's prize), 100 yds scratch senior (Higo Vases), and 1000 yds handicap (Reynolds Cup). ■
