TRAM TRACK REPAIRS

The repair of tram tracks in Wellington is~ causing some concern to the Tramways Department of the City Council, due to difficulty in obtaining labour. The problem is a long-stand-ing one, and much essential work on the tracks has to be postponed.

The number of men available is far less than the number needed, and though from time to time a certain amount of labour is directed by the National Service Department to the work, lack of experienced men is pronounced. Suitable labour is urgently needed, and the Tramways Department is endeavouring to find a solution to the problem as quickly as possible.
