HONEY SEAL AS STAMP

Six charges of failing to stamp reiceipts were admitted in the Magistrate's Court today by Morar Khusal •Patal, a fruiterer. He was fined £5 by ;Mr. W. F. StilwelV S.M., on one charge and convicted and ordered to pay costs •on the others. » The police said that a rent book for a property Patal owned showed , 61 of the Stamp Duties Act. In isome cases he had put only Id stamps tan receipts instead of 2d stamps, and in some cases had put no stamp at all on the receipt. In one instance he ;had used a penny honey seal as a stamp.. ' Patal pleaded ignorance of the law. In reply to the Magistrate he said he Lad been in New Zealand since 1926.
