FERTILISER SALES

A return in the North Island to the 'method of selling superphosphate on a "sacks in" basis is authorised by an order of the Price Tribunal gazetted last evening. This has been done at the request of numerous farmers and farmers' organisations owing to the unsatisfactory position which arose as a result of selling superphosphate "sacks extra." The previous price order fixed the price of superphosphate to farmers at £3 9s 6d a ton net on trucks ex works, sacks being charged extra with a rebate on sacks returned in condition within 90 days. The present order fixes the price at £4 a ton net on trucks ex works, sacks in. If superphosphate has been purchased by a farmer on the old "sacks extra" basis and before the coming into operation of the new order, a period of 90 days is allowed during which starred bags may be returned and the rebates claimed.
