BEQUEST FOR HOSPITAL
Advice was received at a meeting of the South Canterbury Hospital Board from the district manager, Trustees, Executors, and Agency Co., Ltd., that Mr. T. B. Garrick had left a bequest of £5000 to be expended in some manner which was not part of the board's normal. expenditure. Keen appreciation was expressed of the gift.
Thomas Ernest Doig, in the Magistrate's Court ; today, Was fined £1 on each of two charges of being in possession of a firearm without being the registered owner, and was convicted and discharged on two charges of procuring possession of a firearm without a permit. Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., was on the Bench.
The Hutt County Council yesterdaydecided to apply to the Local Government Loans Board for permission to borrow £3900. at 3| per cent, for 20 years for the purpose of meeting the county's liability to the Lower Hutt City Council in respect of the financial adjustment necessitated by the alteration- of. boundaries. The loan will be secured by a special rate of 3-100 din the £ on capital value. -
