NAVAL BUILDING
UNITED STATES PROGRAMME
(Rec. 12.30 p.m.)
WASHINGTON, August 4,
The Navy Department announced that last month 34 naval vessels were launched and 63 keels laid.
The latter include one aircraft carrier, two cruisers, 10 destroyers, and three submarines.
President Roosevelt vetoed a Bill authorising the expenditure of 250,000,000 dollars on highway construction on the grounds that it apportioned the bulk of the funds among the States regardless of defence needs.
