WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS
THOUGHT FOR OTHERS
A LINKING-UP WITH GOD
The striking need to stand firm for a gospel of thought and consideration for others was emphasised by the Rev. B. J. Williams when addressing candidates for confirmation at the Missions to Seamen Chapel last evening. The Missioner said that the League of Nations was the nearest approach to a real Christian attempt to settle the affairs of the nations by instituting a spirit of fellowship and brotherhood,
instead of the hatred.that now exists. It was, however, hopelessly futile because the nations turned away from the doctrine of thought for others. The spirit of mutual tolerance and forbearance was terribly needed in the world today. A spirit of love was essential. That would stop strikes and wars. Those who declared for Christ must make themselves a channel through which might be spread the love of God. The electric power line had to be tapped if power and light were to be secured. So the line from God would give the power for good to fight evil if love was used to link up with Him. Confirmation meant the linking up of the soul with God, for He must have co-operation from the human world if good were to be achieved and real results secured. Everyone must play a part in securing that spirit of true love in the world which was so sorely needed and declare himself for the cpurse of truth and goodness by which alone right would triumph.
