Won well at Woodville when having only second start over hurdles and one likely to go . on with it 9 9 001-Midland. Won amateur riders' race at Te Rapa at last start, and a previous winner over hurdles 9 7 000-Good Sun. Recent race form disappointing 9 4 230-Son and Heir. Does not appeal ..9 3 020-Waka. A novice who was narrowly beaten by Master Dingle at Washdyke in May. Partial to soft going and a good stayer • ■ 9 2 000-Haile Selassie. No form in role .. 9 0 032-Lacan. No form. Has hunting experience .'. 9 0 A jumping field of record size for Trentham is engaged in the Vittoria Hurdles, and it ia a race in which much might happen. Generally the public have lighted near the mark in this event, though Jewelled Girdle was sixth favourite in winning last year. The real form horse in the field is Turaki and he is the logical way, as better things than he has done are expected from' him. Two improving novices who will also be supported .are Smoke Screen and Pekoe, while Tidewaiter and Jack Tar are also good sorts from the flat. Others with likely credentials are Araboa, Hunting • Chorus. Esperance Bay, Grand Sport, Gold Ballad, Midland, and Klncora. Likely to perform well are TURAKI, SMOKE SCREEN, and PEKOE.
