TWO FULL DAYS
MOTHERS IN CONFERENCE
LEAGUE'S DOMINION COUNCIL
Those who attended the Dominion Council of the League of Mothers, which was held recently in Wellington, spent two busy.days discussing vital affairs in connection with the league. The council was opened by her Excellency Viscountess Galway who, after addressing the meeting, left after the minutes had been read.
Mrs. Charles White, retiring Dominion president, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, thanked the Dominion secretary, Mrs. A. L. Wall, for her great help in league work during the past seven years and congratulated her on the state of the financial balance. Besides being secretary Mrs. Wall had undertaken the duties of treasurer and supply secretary. It was decided to appoint officers to fill the two latter positions as the work was too strenuous for the secretary alone. OFFICERS ELECTED. During the day the members of the council were Mrs. White's guests at both luncheon and afternoon tea. After the luncheon adjournment there was much discussion concerning the work of the league in the different provinces, valuable help being given by the presidents of Auckland, Wellington,, and Otago. The new president invited Mrs. White to take the chair for the meeting the next morning. MISS RICHMOND RESIGNS. As Miss M. E. Richmond had expressed her intention of resigning her position as editor of the magazine which she had held for seven years, Mrs. White, on behalf of the Dominion council and those who had \ been specially interested in the magazine work, presented Mis s Richmond with two books. She spoke of the years of devoted work Miss Richmond had gladly given to the magazine. Lady Elliott expressed the hope that Miss Richmond would' still continue to give help and inspiration. Miss Lorimer said that Miss Richmond had a strong belief in the value of the League of Mothers, and had the pen of a ready writer. All present added tributes, in special words of appreciation of her untiring work. Miss Richmond. briefly replied. She proposed Miss Lorimer as the new editor of the magazine, and this was seconded by Mrs. White and carried unanimously. Mrs. J. T. Saunders presented her report and balancesheet.
