AFFILIATION GRANTED
A deputation from the recently formed Centurions Rugby Club, con sisting of Mr. J. Prendeville and Mt. F. D. Kilby, waited on the management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union seeking honorary affiliation After discussion on several points relating to insurance, accident fund, and gate receipts, the club was granted affiliation, on the motion of the chairman (Mr. J. N. Millard). It was als'.idecided tnat the Centurions shouid play a Wellington repr ontative team at Athletic Park on September 2. The Wellington v. Athletic (club match) for* the National Mutual Cup will provide the curtain-raiser. Professor E. J. Boyd Wilson reported on the Wellington B team's visit to Marlborough on Saturday. Wellington won by 44 points to 20, and the report made special reference to the play of H. R. Pollock. ' The Marlborough forwards were heavier than Wellington's but Burns, Baldwin. a. d Reynolds handled excellently in the visiting backline. Dance impressed at fullback, and Gillespie in solid runs scored six tries. Crawford-Smith aiv 1 Burke v v ere outstanding in the fof wards. The match was well attended and resulted in an excellent "gate." Mr. W. R. King reported on the visit of the Wellington junior representatives to the Wairarapa last Saturday. Officials for next Saturday's match with Canterbury at Athletic Park were appointed as follows: —Steward for visiting team, Father T. Cleary; steward for Wellington team. Mr. J. D. King.
