SECOND DIVISION
ATHLETIC AND ONSLOW
Greater thrust and determination in the backs, plus Auld's fine place-kick-ing, gave Athletic a 12-point victory over Onslow at Nairnville Park.
During the first spell Athletic put on two tries, the scorers being Dallison and Ward. Both tries'were converted by Auld. Onslow advances were not quite so successful, but Bentley succeeded in topping off one rush with a 20yd run for a try. 'L. Thomas had several kicks at goal, and landed one penalty. He was unfortunate with another, the ball, drop-kicked, appearing to travel accurately though a goal was not awarded. Desperate rallies by Onslow in the second spell did not cause Athletic to lose their grip on \he game. Rice scored a try which was again converted, and towards the end of the game the Athletic full-back rounded off a good afternoon's work by kicking his fourth goal, a penalty from the side-line, and 50yds out, Athletic thus winning by 1.8 points to 6. . Mr. G. Morris was referee.
