MIRAMAR AND PETONE
Petone showed the better combination when they met Miramar at the Polo Grounds, and fully earned their win by 11 .points to 8. Miramar had several new-players, and that affected combination, but the forwards were quite weighty and looked a likely lot, Petone staged some very snappy passing rushes, and the young backs shaped exceedingly well, especially J. McGurk (half) and O'Halloran (first five-eighths). In the first spell two very good Petone movements ended in tries by O'Halloran and McKnight. Miramar's only response was a penalty goal by Potier Petone increased their" lead early in the second half with a eift try to Haddy which McGurk converted. For the greater part of the second spell play fell away badly During the latter part of the proceedings, the home pack made-more headway and efforts were rewarded when Brown scored for Potier to convert. Mr. J, A Wilson was referee. ,
