LECTURE ON PHAR LAP
An interesting lecture on Phar Lap, wlio, before •. his untimely death in California, had;won,37. races out of 50 starts, and had won £66,440 in stakes, was given by Mi*. K. Austin, managing director of Elderslie Stud, Ltd., Oamaru, in the Dominion Museum last night before an audience which •included many prominent sporting men. Mr. J. W. Heenan, of the board of trustees of the Dominion Museum, presided. . Among those present was Mr. H Greenwood, owner of Defaulter, who won the Wellington Cup on Thursday, and who Mr. Austin said gave promise of being. a second Phar Lap;
Silver-Stick has now run two seconds in three starts, and he should not be long in breaking his maiden status. He is a solid type of qolt who should be all the better for the experience.
