SOMETHING ABOUT DIET

The Seatoun branch of the League of Mothers met recently at the kiosk. Mrs. Oliver, who presided, gave the thought for the month: "For the Lord Jesus Christ's sake do all the gpod you can, to all the people you pan, in all the ways you can, as long as ever you can." The choir rendered two enjoyable items. Dr. Ada Platts-Mills gave an interesting talk, about diet. Dr. PlattsMills impressed upon her listeners not to follow, a fad dieV but aim at variety and give their tasides a chance. New Zealand children were lacking in iodine and everyone should use iodine salt. It seemed that 100 years ago the food that the poor people ate had as many as three times Vitamin B qualities as today. After answering a number of questions, Mrs. Nicol proposed a vote of thanks to Dr. Platts-Mills which was cordially given. Afternoon tea was served by the committee. BROOKLYN BRANCH. A meeting of the Brooklyn branch of the League of Mothers was held recently in the Methodist Schoolroom, Mrs. J. W. Jones presiding over' a good attendance. \ Miss Samson gave an interesting talk on her trip Home. She spoke very highly of the Karitane work in Australia, England, and other parts of the world, and her account of niothercraft work at Cromwell House, London was particularly interesting. The rendering of two delightful songs by Mrs. Dixon, accompanied by Mrs. Upton, was much appreciated. Afternoon tea was served by Mrs. Bartlett and her helpers.
