GIFT FOR BRIDE-ELECT
UPPER HUTT W.D.F.U.
A meeting of the Upper Hutt ;Women's;division., of the,, .Farmers'; Union was held- recently -at -- the residence of iMrs. Collett. The president,. Mrs. Hawthorne, foresided over~a large attendance of members, several new members being welcomed. The monthly competition (hand-worked apron) was won by Mrs. W. Clifford, Mrs. Harold Scholes gaining second place.
In honour of the approaching marriage of Miss May Collett, musical items and competitions had been arranged by Mrs. Lindsay. Pianoforte 'duets were played :by Miss Edna Gorrie and Miss Nancy Keys. Miss Gorrie also gave several elocutionary items, all of which were much enjoyed. Mrs. Hawthorne (on behalf of the division) presented Miss Collett with a sandwich tray, conveying at the same time the best wishes of the division. Miss Collett replied. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Harper and Mrs. Lindsay.
