THE "SPRINGTIME FAIR."
Heralded as "the show that will banish gloom," the "Springtime Fair," which will be opened in the Town Hall, on Saturday, promises to equal the success of those held in previous years to raise funds for the Wellington City Mission. Season tickets at 2s 6d each are now procurable at the Mission Hall, Taranaki Street. These .entitle the bearers to be present each day during the week of the fair. This year the proceeds of the fair are to be applied to two very worthy purposes. First, to meet the needs of the distressed, for although brighter times have helped to ease the load, there is unfortunately still a very large number of distressing cases to which the mission cannot possibly turn a deaf ear. A portion of the proceeds of the fair will be devoted to the Fielden Taylor Memorial Building Fund —a worthy memorial to a noble life of self-sacri-fice. Programme arrangements for the fair are almost complete and visitors will find that very bright entertainment is to be provided by some of the best and cleverest of Wellington's entertainers. An entire change of programme will be made each day, and dance and song, band music, and physical culture displays all find a place in programmes calculated to please the most critical. Arrangements for the afternoon sessions include a baby show, fancy dress party for children, and cooking demonstrations, etc.
