MEAT EXPORT TRADE
The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board reports that the Dominion's exports of meat during the period from October 1, 1937, to August 15, 1938, with the figures for the corresponding period last season in parentheses, were: — Chilled beef, quarters, 212,008 (182,156); frozen beef, quarters, 131,486 (134,833); mutton, carcasses, 1,699,655 (1,426.365); lamb, carcasses, 8,293,594 (8,252.724); pork, carcasses, 567,865 (556,013); boneless beef, bags, 301,108 (222,555). Killings for export during the same period were: —Chilled beef quarters, 222,557 (175,892); frozen beef, quarters, 160,399 (196,197); wether mutton, carcasses, 1.013,817 (971,866); ewe mut-ton,-'carcasses, 1,173,445 (807,991); jlamb, carcasses, 9,157,653 (9,180,85S); (pork (porkers), carcasses, 421,850 (428,561); pork (baconers), carcasses, 227,168 (239,229); boneless beef, freight carcasses, 616,862 (501,024); boneless bobby veal, freight carcasses, 141,122 i (145,427); sundries, freight carcasses, 331,909 (297,095). j Cathie, Dempster, and Co. have rej ceived a cable from Sheed, Thomson, I and Co., Ltd., London, today, reporting j I London meat prices as follows: — ! Lambs, 2's fgd to Bd, B's 7fd to Bd, 4's 74d to 7 3-Bd," seconds 7d to 7£d; wethers, I's, 7's 4 5-8 dto 5 l-Bd, 3's, 9's, s's 3fd to 4&d; ewes, I's, 7's 3 l-8d to 3 5-Bd, 3's, 9's, s's 2|d to 3 l-8d; porkers, 6 5-8 dto 6|d; baconers, 6£d. Meat market generally slow.
