Danielle Darrieux kisses "beautk fully"—but—there is plenty of room for improvement in her aim! Henry iKoster voiced that observation on the set at Universal where he- was directing Miss Darrieux and Louis Hayward in a romantic scene for "The Rage of Paris. "You're ,supposed to.rush up ~to Mr. Hayward and surprise him withAa kiss, he explained to^the glamorous French star. "It's all done very fast. , But. you must kiss him on the cheek hard enough so the rouge print-can" be'photographed by. the camera." In .the ; first flurried attempt, the actress missed Hay ward's cheek entirely. The-second, and third "takes" resulted in a Smear of lip • rouge across the actor's face. Finally,'Koster evolved a solution. Obtaining an artist's brush, he took Hayward aside and himself painted the lip prints on the actor's face. Hayward then went through the scene with Miss Darrieux, to the director's satisfaction. "The kiss was all right,'\he said,l'except that Miss Darrieux's aim was bad!"
