CHARLIE MCCARTHY'S CHAIR.

Charlie McCarthy (the famous ventriloquist's dummy) has moved up . a notch in the cinema world. At universal Studios where Charlie, . wi|h Edgar Bergen, Adolphe Menjou, and Andrea Leeds are working in "Letter of Introduction," Charlie was presented with a "director's" chair—the familiar folding canvas arrangement furnished to directors and stars. Charlie's chair is-half-size, but bears his name, in full-sized letters, across the-back. When Bergen made the presentation,* McCarthy expressed1 his appreciation by saying: "That's darned nice of you, Bergen."
