Y.W.C.A. GIRL CITIZENS
The mothers of the Y.W.C.A. Girl Citizens (the younger girls of the association) had an interesting experience recently when their daughters entertained them at a "Mother and Daughter" evening. Group singing, dancing, and original items depicting household life "whe.n mother was a girl" and a parade of fashions of a past day proved ver,y entertaining. A pleasing picture from "My Lady of the Chimney Corner" and a simple campfire symbolic of the spirit of the pioneer women of our land, were appreciated by all. The mothers were invited to join with the girls in their * community gathering, the girl citizen enrolment j ceremony, and all were deeply impressed with the quiet dignity and the splendid challenge to true citizenship which is contained in the girl citizenship code. The evening had been planned by the girls as a demonstration of what the Y.W.C.A., through the girl citizen programme, is offering to girls between the ages of 13-18 years, and the mothers were quick to express their appreciation of the opportunities afforded their, daughters.
