COVENT GARDEN BALL

n^-- ... . ... ■ ■-. . The Ptehket;Society ..was well advised to c^ose such ari attractive.name for the annual ball as "Covent Garden," for. the idea of a wealth of flowers in the midst of our winter weather is specially attractive, and it will be well worth while during;this cold snap to go to: the Town Hall on Friday night and enjgy the .riiany beauties in the way of libra! decorations which will be spread iorth for the enjoyment of Wellington people. Imaging just now being fairly surr rounded with flowers, with the opportunity for the menkind of buying gardenias, and carnations for their buttonholes, -a^dleis land sprays for the ladies—it\ seems too good to be true, but thef; ■-of making many and lovely^ j'blpssomsi has grown to such an extent that the workers under Mrs. Bassant have had to leave their room: in the ,i>.I.C. and go to larger premises! in the Town Hall.

Rumour" has it that the ballets are to be Equally' beautiful and flowerbedecked. Details so far have been withheld by Mrs. P. Cooke and Miss Estelle Beere, but those who know these,, producers .are. assured .of some-; thing very exquisite. . The committee Wishes it to be known that the price of the tickets includes supper and the opportunity of enjoying delicibus 1 fruit and claret -cup at Mrs. Vickerman's stall . during the evening. So far there has . been a wonderfully successful sale of tickets and letting of alcoves, while the best seats in the gallery are being rapidly taken up.. Therefore those who wish to have an exceptionally interesting evening, and to help the Plunket Society, would be well advised to secure their places as soon as possible. Further, details are advertised in this issue.
