CENTENNIAL STAMP

The New Zealand Centennial in 1940 would be commemorated by the issue of a special series of postage stamps, the denominations ranging from id to Is, the Postmaster-General (the Hon. F. Jones) stated yesterday. A number of prominent New Zealand artists had been invited to submit competitive drawings for the designs of the stamps, and a special sub-committee appointed by the National Historical Committee had selected a series representing various phases of the Dominion's industrial and historical development. The successful artists were Messrs. L. C. Mitchell and J. Berry, both o1 Wellington.
