LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

WELLINGTON EAST The Wellington East branch of the League of Mothers met at the Congregational Hall, Cambridge Terrace, recently. Mrs. W. Gilmour presided, assisted by Mrs. A. M. Lewis. The members expressed their deep sympathy with the president, Mrs. H. D. Bennett, who was unable to attend owing to the recent loss of her mother. Mrs. Bruce gave a most helpful talk on "Home Nursing," stressing the importance of fresh air in a sick room, and suitable diet. She described how to wash a patient in bed, and how to apply poultices and fomentations, and the treatment of burns, sprains, fainting turns, etc. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the speaker.

Miss Reynolds, accompanied by Madame de Maun'y, sang three songs which gave great pleasure. During the singing- of the league hymn four members were admitted. Afternoon tea was served by the committee and some of the. members.
