H. Sheehy, and A. Nicholson (New Plymouth), gave an afternoon party at the home of Mrs. Amos, Karori. This pleasant function was the commencement of a round of entertainment given this week in Mrs. Turvey's honour, her hostesses at other parties being Mrs. W. H. Nash, Mrs. George Dennis, Mrs. John Coates. Mrs. Pearson, and Mrs. Mawson. Forthcoming Ball. A meeting of the committee formed to make arrangements for the annual ball of "I" Squadron of the Legion of Frontiersmen was held in the legion rooms recently. Owing to the popularity of the ball in previous years, the committee now finds, it necessary to limit the attendance to ticket or invitation holders, only. : Last years patrons, however, are to be given the privilege of nominating their friends to engender the popular "party spirit* at the function. The ball will be held in St. Francis Hall towards the end or July The committee comprises Major J. L. McAlister, M.C. (chairman), Lieutent'J. McKelvie (treasurer), Captain G. G. C.
