WEDDING

GEALE—THOMSON

A wedding of much interest to a large circle of and friends was solemnised at St. James's Presbyterian Church recently, when Helen Anne,' only daughter df Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Thomson, Dwen Street, and Joseph Fred Hugh, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. "Geale," Picton Avenue, were married. The Rev. A. G. Gardiner officiated. The service was fully choral as a token of appreciation to the bride's mother, who has been a member of St. James's Choir for twenty years. Mr. John Randall was at the organ and during the signing' of the register Mrs. Hills sang "I'll Walk Beside .You." , .',■ i -

The bride, who .was escorted by her father, wore a gown of deep magnolia safa with full sleeves coming to ;a point 'at the wrists, tiny, self-covered buttons to the waist at the back, and the skirt forming a long train. The ruched neck-line was caught by a spray of orange blossom. She wore*%n embroidered , veil (lent by the^bridegroom's sister, Mrs. Young), and a halo of orange blossom caught the veil to the head. She carried a sheaf of pink gladioli and shaded pink roses, intermingled with asparagus fern with ribbon to tone. ■

Two bridesmaids, Miss Ruth McCahon (chief) and Miss Irene Cutler, were in attendance. They were gowned alike in powder-blue striped French marocain, the skirt being biascut, and the bodice and sleeves being cut on the straight, on the same lines as the bride's gown. They wore silver lame leaf halos, and silver shoes to match. The chief xbridesmaid carried a bouquet of pink carnations and roses, and Miss Cutler carried one of blue.delphiniums and gold,roses with ribbon to tone.

Mr. Ernie Geale attended his brother as best man, and Mr. Jack Biggs was groomsman. The bride was presented with two horse shoes as she left the church, one by little Katherine Young and the other by Master Hugh Smith (niece and nephew of the bridegroom).

Over a hundred guests were received at the Orange Hall, Daniell Street, by Mrs."Thomson and Mrs. Geale. Mrs. Thomson.- wore a navy blue crepe de chine frock with lace sleeves and lace insets in the bodice, and a picture hat trimmed with pink foses, and carried a posy of pink carnations and maidenhair fern with matching ribbon. Mrs. Geale was wearing a navy blue suit with hat and accessories to match, and carried a posy of blue delphiniums and autumn foliage. A special toast was proposed in honour of the bridegroom's grandfather, Mr.' H. Milligan, who had come from Christchurch for the occasion. Music for dancing was supplied by Mrs. Robb, and Mr. Calnan (Hastings) acted as M.C. Between dances, musical and elocutionary items were given by Mrs. Norma Perralt (Hastings), Mr. Eai'le Grantham (Masterton), Mr. E. Cutler, and Mr. E. Watson.

t When Mr. and Mrs. Geale left by car for the north the latter was wearing a model frock of brown fine wool crepe' trimmed with white braid and fancy, stitching, and finished by a wide sash-of'brown eire ribbon. With it she wore a matching • redingote and brown, hat trimmed with eire ribbon to match, the dress. Brown..accessories completed.her smart ensemble. ,
