FOR CATHOLIC SEAMEN
A large number of seamen from the ships in port were entertained recently at the A:M.I.C. rooms, Vivian Street; Happiness was the keynote of the evening and all thoroughly enjoyed the delightful programme .provided.
Those who contributed items were Misses Atley, Messrs. Gregory and Lilli, and Mr. Perry with songs at the piano. Judy Cooper; Alan yan, Betty Westthorp, and Messrs.. Prince and Lilli gave clever tap dances, and club drill was performed .by Mr. Keenan. Mr, B. Needham played for the dancing and Miss.D. Spinks made an efficient accompanist. Mr. Anish, of the Tainui, was M.C. ■ . • .
Supper wast,served by the ladies' committee and the singing of the National Anthem brought another successful evening to a close.
Before cooking a ham, insert a sharp knife in several places, sprinkle a little powdered gelatine in the cuts. As the ham cooks, the gelatine melts, and spreads through the meat, thus making it set well.- It i» then easy to.slice thinly.
