GEORGE'S NEW 'CHASER

Bonnie Rollox, the steeplechaser bought in Melbourne by the Trentham trainer T. K. George, has recently been in excellent form. On January 1 he won the January Steeples at Fleming-ton and on the same course last Tuesday he won the March Steeples. Prior to the present season he had not been a winner in any role, but he had had very little racing. A son of imported St. Rollox (by Glasgerion), he was bred in New South Wales from Bonnie Charis, a mare who is not in the Stud Book, and though he is now nine years old he did not see the race track till he was six. Up till his sale he carried the colours of Mr. J. Nailon, a son of the Randwick trainer G. P. Nailon, and he was trained by Frank Godby.

Chief, and Pantoon. Tout le Monde won at his first attempt over hurdles, but at Te Aroha the ground was very hard, with the result that he pulled up sore-and has a filled leg. Flying Chief appears in the list of acceptors for the New Zealand St. Leger at Trentham, but will not be a starter, having been left in the field in error.

• Mr. F. Ehrhorn returned on Wednesday from his lengthy stay in the north with the two-year-old Nuclei. Nuclei ran a first and had two placings but suffered a nasty fall which may have affected her latest performance.

International will in future have to compete in open class, having won his way out of hacks during his northern trip.

The Musketoqn colt Pantoon came through his racing in good shape, his .last outing at Te Ardha, when he finished close up in fourth position, being his best effort. A sturdy sort, Pantoon may be capable of winning a race before the season for two-year-olds closes.

Cynical Kid, who has been a big disappointment in Australia, ! is being, returned home this week. He was entered for the big Onkaparinga Steeplechase, but his form has not justified that extra trip being undertaken.
