Cimabue carried 8.10, and Diatomous 8.7 (same weight as Laughing Lass has), but the other three, Golden Wings (8.6), Rerepai, and Hunting Day, had less weight than has been allotted the Laughing.Prince filly, whose sex has been represented with winners in the period by Shirley and Kerbside, both older performers at the time.

Karl and Deficit have the brilliance also to be troublesome. Karl is not best class, but he often runs a surprisingly good race among the handicappers, as.he recently did at .Te Aroha, and he is always at least a good place prospect. Deficit failed to repeat his Te Rapa form at Te Aroha, but it was the new way of going that upset him, and for once he has returned from a trip away better than when he left.

Knockfin, with five thirds in line at her last five -starts, is at least consistent. On her day she is exceptionally brilliant, but she has been just not good enough to win during most of the last twelve months or so. She succeeded here on the last day in the spring, but it was a moderate lot she theft defeated. Acceptable, second in the race last year, is now being trained again' without galloping, and it will be of interest to see if he responds to the treatment as he did for a time previously. Flammarion and Sansfoy are recruits from the hack class on the minimum, but one doubts if they are. quite up to the class of. next week's sprint.
