" FRESHERS' " BALL
The singing of college songs and the latest "hits," with appropriate hakas and interjections, gave newcomers to Victoria College the proper university atmosphere last evening, when the executive of the Students' Association held a welcome dance for "Freshers" in the college gymnasium.
Mr. R. C. Wilde, president of the student's executive, in a welcoming speech, warned the freshers of the pitfalls they might encounter in the course of their attendance at the university,- and explained the activities of the various societies connected with the college.
The gymnasium was decorated for the occasion with a gay canopy of green and gold streamers, and was hardly large enough to hold the many dancers who attended. The orchestra was kept busy responding to encores.
Supper was .served in the long room downstairs, after which dancing was resumed and continued till a late -hour.
